Governor Rendell proclaims

October 18-24, 2009 Log Cabin Trail Week in Pennsylvania

The Lehigh County Log Cabin Trail Committee announced today that Governor Edward G. Rendell has proclaimed the week of October 18-24, 2009 as Log Cabin Trail in Pennsylvania. The proclamation is based on the recently establishment of the Lehigh County Log Cabin Trail.

The text of Governor RendellÕs Log Cabin Trail proclamation follows:

ÒIt gives me great pleasure to join with the Lehigh County Log Cabin Trail Committee in support of October 18-24 as Log Cabin Trail Week.

ÒThe Lehigh County Log Cabin Trail was established to identify and call to the publicÕs attention twenty-two of our one hundred remaining and charming 18th and 19th century log cabins and other log buildings. The Lehigh County Log Cabin Trail is unique in Pennsylvania [and] the United States. It seeks to add to and enhance the publicÕs appreciation of the rich historic log building heritage of Lehigh County, Pennsylvania. The Lehigh County Log Cabin Trail adds a new component to existing historic tourism opportunities in Lehigh County, and provides excellent opportunities for the public to see and photograph some of the few remaining 18th and 19th century log cabins and other log buildings.

ÒAs Governor I am pleased to support October 18-14, 2009 as Log Cabin Trail Week, and encourage all Pennsylvanians to take advantage to this opportunity to see and appreciate the historic beauty of some of the remaining log cabins and other log buildings in Lehigh County.Ó
